Book of Colossians Week 9 — Colossians 3:5-17
When our joy is rooted in comfort, adversity shakes us. But when our joy is rooted in Christ, even hardship becomes an opportunity for the greatness of Jesus to be put on display.
Biblical joy is not temporary happiness based on circumstances. It is a deep and permeant awareness of God’s grace in Christ. And when that joy takes hold of our hearts, it naturally and supernaturally overflows into mission.
Mission is not primarily about going or doing. It is about being a people so captivated by the beauty of Jesus and so satisfied in Him that His glory spills into every corner of life. As a result, we pray, give, and send. These are not duties we perform, but the overflow of a church whose joy is anchored in Christ and whose desire is to advance the gospel.
